MIREC
Inclusive language

Note on terminology:

On our website we currently use the term "women" to encompass both cisgender women and transgender and non-binary individuals who may become pregnant. We also use the term “mothers” for people who were pregnant during the MIREC study. We are examining how we can best include gender-inclusive language in our area of research.

The use of the terms "women" and “mothers” is not intended to exclude or marginalize any gender identity. We are committed to the adoption of language that respects the lived experiences of all individuals involved in our research, in an approach that reflects current best practices.
